Experimental Verification for 1coy » Cholesterol oxidase
The calculated protein orientation is in agreement with a fluorescence labeling study of a residue in position 81 (Chen et al. 2000). Fluorescence quenching shows penetration of the protein into the hydrocarbon interior of the lipid bilayer. Maximal membrane binding affinity is -4.8 kcal/mol (Chen et al. 2000).
