Experimental Verification for 1dk5 » Annexin 24
Characterization of this plant annexin using biophysical methods revealed calcium-dependent binding to phospholipid vesicles with preference for phosphatidylcholine over phosphatidylserine and magnesium-dependent phosphodiesterase activity in vitro (Hofmann et al. 2000). W107 penetrates the hydrocarbon core in the calculated orientation. Two other aromatic residues (W35 and Y192) occupy the interfacial region. This is consistent with fluorescence data (Hofmann et al. 2000).
