Experimental Verification for 1fhx » Cytohesin-3 (Grp1)
This position was calculated for the complex with bound lipid. Lipid acyl chains were modelled. Calculated hydrocarbon boundary of the lipid bilayer corresponds to the carbonyl groups of the bound lipid. Membrane penetration depth of the protein strongly depends on the bound lipid conformation (the protein can move away of the hydrophobic boundary). Transfer energy was calculated without contribution of the bound lipid (orientation of the protein without bound lipid is different).
