Experimental Verification for 1ptr » C1 domain of protein kinase C delta
The protein penetrates deeper into the membrane core when bound to the acetyl phorbol ligand, according to the calculations (this model). M239, S240, P241, F243, L250, W252, G253, L254 and V255 are buried in the membrane core in the ligand-bound state are, consistent with the important role of L250, W252 and L254 in protein-lipid interactions (Wang et al. 2001).

Protein kinase C delta is calcium-independent, phospholipid-dependent, serine- and threonine-specific enzyme. PKC also serves as the receptor for phorbol esters, a class of tumor promoters (13-acetylphorbol in the PDB structure).
