| Calculated position is in agreement with burial of W2 in the membrane core (flurescence data) and with the overall orientation and membrane penetration depth of the peptide determined by solid-state NMR (Mason et al. 2006). 3D structure was determined in DPC micelles. Each micelle contains at least two pleurocidin molecules. The peptide forms ion channels in lipid bilayers. |
