Comments: Regulates the GDP/GTP exchange reaction of the Rho proteins by inhibiting the dissociation of GDP from them, and the subsequent binding of GTP to them.

The inhibitor is bound to RAC2 protein (Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 2). RAC2 has S-geranylgeranyl cysteine 189. The geranylgeranyl residue can be buried in the membrane if the C-terminus of RAC2 is extended or unfolded (the C-terminal residues are missing in the crystal structure). The interaction with membrane is weak, since this is the inactive (GDP-bound) state. RAC2 is membrane-associated when activated. |
